چکیده

Meta-analyses are used to synthesize treatment information through application of statistical methods during all phases of clinical research and development, especially in the context of health technology assessment of the relative effectiveness between two treatments across trials as well as in drug reimbursement applications.1 The consistency of the treatment effect between groups of trials can be examined by applying heterogeneity testing for subgroup differences to aggregate trial data.2 There exists a wide variety of software for performing metaanalyses and testing subgroup heterogeneity, ranging from ready-to-use software like Review Manager (RevMan) from the Cochrane Collaboration3 to packages requiring statistical expert-knowledge inputs.4 Background

Applied Quantitative Methods in Medicine 166 AN EMPIRICAL INVESTIGATION OF META-ANALYSIS USING RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED CLINICAL TRIALS IN A PARTICULAR CENTRE

Abstract: Meta-analysis is the combination of results from various independent studies. In a meta-analysis, combining survival data from different clinical trials, an important issue is the possible heterogeneity between trials. Such inter-trial variation can not only be explained by heterogeneity of treatment effects across trials but also by heterogeneity of their baseline risk. In addition, ...

Assessing and reporting heterogeneity in treatment effects in clinical trials: a proposal

Mounting evidence suggests that there is frequently considerable variation in the risk of the outcome of interest in clinical trial populations. These differences in risk will often cause clinically important heterogeneity in treatment effects (HTE) across the trial population, such that the balance between treatment risks and benefits may differ substantially between large identifiable patient...

ADDIS: an automated way to do network meta-analysis

In evidence-based medicine, meta-analysis is an important statistical technique for combining the findings from independent clinical trials which have attempted to answer similar questions about treatment’s clinical effectiveness [1]. Normally, such meta-analyses are pair-wise treatment comparisons, which only include the comparisons between two treatments, e.g. treatment A and placebo. When ad...

Validation of Instruments for Assessing Drug Safety Management During the Conduction of Clinical Trials

Background The management of drug safety with the collection of reliable safety data during the conduction of clinical trials conduct is essential for the registry and marketing of products. The systematic evaluation of this process, based on objective measures, requires the application of quality instruments. This study was aimed to design and validate eight instruments through the components ...
